DJ Efsharp / Sam Fleming Featured
Samuel Peter Fleming aka Efsharp, has filled dance floors at over two thousand events across six countries since starting at CKCU in Ottawa in 94. Sam has shared the stage with MC’s Guru & Jazzmatazz, Shad K & Maestro Fresh Wes to bands such as Sam Roberts, Dragonette, Keys N Krates, The Arkells, City and Colour, to world-class DJ’s Starting From Scratch, Mayer Hawthorne, Dopey, Pump, Hedspin, Shub and Skratch Bastid.
Sam Fleming was the Toronto Fashion Week DJ for ten seasons and has mixed hundreds of fashion shows and parties. His monthly first Friday each month at Tennessee Tavern is called “For The Record” and features DJ’s that still jockeys discs. Every Friday he hosts a Disco night at the Piston, 937 Bloor St West.
Sam became obsessed with vinyl as a child, and was trained and played his first sets on-air at Ottawa radio station CKCU in 1994. He since has played over 2000 events in the GTA. Sam’s weapons of choice are crates of records, his 45 case a pair of Technics and a Serato mixer, and with these, he selects something special for every show from his of his vast vinyl collection to warm the party up. When the dancers are ready to launch off he switches to his even bigger digital library to really tear the roof of with his live mashups and long blends.
Sam aka DJ Efsharp has played at some of the Ontario’s biggest events including being the musical director and lead runway DJ for Toronto Fashion Week these last five years. He has toured coast to coast in Canada, and performed in England and the Dominican Republic.
He has been the DJ and even a show designer at events of every conceivable kind. Located in downtown Toronto, his company Evolved Entertainment designs and executes events of all sizes. He always prefers to do a client interview and site survey to envision something to make each event unique with his thoughtful musical direction. He refers to his overall approach as memory architecture or moment styling.
Sam is truly passionate about the integration of light and sound to capture people’s attention. Having the dancers trust his musical conversation and spend the night with their bodies locked in a groove is his goal every night, and this is why he’s won a few awards this year for his selections and skill.
