Danison Manium Featured
Danison Manium is a sape player from Dayak Salako of Lundu, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo.
The sape (or sapeh) is a traditional string instrument originated from the island of Borneo (Malaysia and Indonesia). Known to be invented by the Orang Ulu tribe (upriver people), who live in the longhouses along rivers of Central Borneo. Sapes are carved from a single bole of wood, with many modern instruments reaching over a meter in length.
Danison is also the sape workshop instructor during the Rainforest World Music Festival 2017, 2018 & 2019. He was one of the performers for World Harvest Festival 2017 & 2018, Sape Movement Festival 2018, Festival Bunga Kinabalu 2018, Bazar Seni JKKN Sarawak 2016.
Danison had his EP Production launched on 13 July 2018 titled “Traditional Sape” and his next EP Production “Urau—Borneo Strings” with Noel Anyi & Jimpau Balan will be launched in 2021.
